Tropical World

This route takes us from the Caribbean coast to the banks of the Orinoco: passing through beaches, mountains, rivers and jungle. Blues and greens abound on a single journey filled with tropical sights. The adventure starts on the island of Margarita, known locally as a pearl in the Caribbean, together with its sister islands of Coche and Cubagua. In fact Cubagua was the first centre established for the pearl fishing industry in South America

It continues on to Sucre state with its beautiful beaches, coves and lush vegetation. To the west, Mochima National Park offers inlets, bays, islets and rocks jutting out of the water, and its spectacular coral reefs can be explored by the experienced scuba diver. North and east of the park, the Caribbean coast of Sucre branches out into two large peninsulas: Araya and Paria, the Tierra de Gracia, or the Blessed Land, as Columbus called it.

The state of AnzoƔtegui is a pleasure for nature lovers and sun worshipers alike. As you drive through the state, historic, archaeological and architectonic monuments are found interwoven with a variety of ecosystems showing an astonishing parade of flora and fauna.

Moving south, is a most remarkable natural site - the Guacharo Cave, in the eternally green land of Monagas state.

An unforgettable journey takes us to the Orinoco river territory, where we move through the forest and head deep into the state of Bolivar. Here we find the legendary Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world, and also the historic tepuis - some of the most ancient natural formations on earth. This region with its fast-flowing rivers, thick jungle and cascading waters is a place of natural splendour, that will live in the memory of all those who visit.

From this celebrated land that is the south we sail to the Atlantic coast, to Delta Amacuro where the Orinoco joins the ocean amid the intense green of its mangroves.
